"August Afternoon"

12"x16" Oil on Linen

Plein air on Barnegat Bay on a Saturday afternoon in August.  I love late summer and early fall when these big puffy cumulus clouds come over the bay as a perfect backdrop to the weekly Saturday regatta.

  1. BEautiful, Lori! That is my favorite kind of day - puffy clouds on blue, blue sky! Thanks for the comment on my blog. I hope our weather CHANGES for your weekend - been kind of foggy - but at least it's cool!

  2. I like your big puffy clouds, and the depth you've created. Wonderful shadows in the water also!

  3. Beautiful sky, Lori! I love to see the Autumn sky as well. The reflection of the clouds in the water are beautifully painted as well. Great job.

  4. It's easy to say something clever right off the bat, but I find myself liking this more and more every time I tune in.

  5. I, too, love late summer and fall. Although there aren't any regattas here!

  6. That's so lovely! I like how the sky dominates the scene and makes the boaters seem insignificant against the grandeur of the sea and sky. It has such a powerful feeling to it!
