"Sunrise on Beach Avenue"

This is a street scene in Beach Haven that I started a
few months ago and just finished yesterday. It was painted
on gessoed board which I do like working on.  I've
been working on some larger pieces so I haven't been
posting.

Update: This painting received a Judge's Choice Award
at Pine Shores Art Association's Annual Spring Art  Show.
The show was judged by Paige Roberts.

"Tuckerton Marina"

I did a plein air workshop yesterday with
Michael Budden.  We painted at a Tuckerton
NJ marina on the edge of the New Jersey
Pine Barrens. The weather was beautiful but
slightly windy so I couldn't use my umbrella.

The class spread out around the marina
to pick a view to paint.  I chose this little
white building on the other side of the creek
to avoid trying to paint a complex scene with
boats and multiple buildings. I just wanted to
concentrate on capturing the light and color
of the scene.  The water may look a little
dark but I feel it accurately portrays the color
of the water as the creeks in the area are
naturally tea-colored and called "cedar water".

I am definitely going to go back there as
there are many interesting local scenes to paint.

"Jadite Cup"

This is a jadite coffee cup from my cupboard at the
beach.  It is one of those heavy glass restaurant cups.
It is my favorite - it's so indestructible and has a
substantial feel.  I can only imagine the old time diner
that it was used in.  I miss those old diners.  There is
one on the island in Barnegat Light called Mustache Bills.
I'm going to try painting the inside of it this summer.

"Pear-aerial View"

I painted this awhile ago and am posting it today.  It
is an aerial view of pears. Sort of reminds me of a
landscape plan.

"Spring Beauty"

This is one of my favorite spring bulbs that bloomed in
my garden this weekend.  The latin name is Scilla Siberica
also known as Spring Beauty.  It blooms early spring right
after the crocus and is a beautiful clear blue.
